Rare Liberty and Co. sheer black silk evening jacket with gold embroidered floral motif, short drop sleeves and gold bouillon fringe along the hem and sleeves. Beautiful relaxed fit with one snap closure in the front and looks similar to a cocoon coat when worn and closed. A beautiful example of fashion during the Aesthetic Movement.

We bought this coat from the original estate in Norfolk, Virginia. It was found in a cedar chest with a note attached stating that the owners father brought this back from London in 1919. A true treasure and still quite wearable. You can see the note in the front flat lay photo and we will include it with the jacket.

There are a few cosmetic condition issues. There’s a discoloration in some places that is a maroon color. There are also some loose and tarnished threads. The silk, while delicate, is still strong and intact with no shattering or rips. Please let us know if you require more photos. There is a slight “vintage” smell, we have not cleaned this item. It is as found.
