Vintage Maxi Skirt and Angel Wing Blouse, 1970s Printed Silk Set Size Small
This is a gorgeous and unique set from the 1970s, possibly late 60s. It has an elevated style and is elegantly sexy.
The skirt is an a-line maxi skirt that is about ankle or floor length depending on your height (ankle length on model, she is 5'11"). The blouse slips over the head and ties at either side of the waist, with the sides being completely open. Because the waist ties snugly and the sleeves are 3/4 length, this does provide adequate coverage for the bust while still feeling a bit naughty.
The print on this is dark and mysterious. You can make out some more defined animal and person figures, but there are also what appear to be trees or bushes, and a lot of more shadowy "scenic" type of print. There is also arabic writing printed on this, and I have no idea what it says.
The set came from the estate of a New Jersey woman who had a lot of high end designer pieces, and a lot of custom made pieces. The only tags in this are a size tag (marked 8 but more like a 4-6), and a tag that says "dry clean". This piece has been hand washed and air dried. It had been in an attic for decades and needed more than a dry clean, but I would recommend dry cleaning going forward.
The only flaws on this are some small holes in the front of the skirt, shown in photos. The ties at the side of the waist are somewhat short, but were more than sufficient on the model. Buttons or other fasteners could be added if preferred.
The fabric feels like silk, and is double layers of semi sheer fabric. The two layers together seem to provide enough coverage, this is not sheer (though you could see a silhouette if backlit).
