Vintage Betsey Johnson Rose Print Dress, 1990s Fit and Flare Novelty Print Dress Size Small
Betsey Johnson is a genius, and this dress is a prime example of why. This 90s does 50s dream has a fitted bodice with a full skirt, a dreamy print, and absolutely lovely details.
The fabric is cotton with a touch of spandex, to help it keep its shape. The print is of long stemmed roses in an alternating "head up, head down" pattern. The bulk of the pattern is the long leafy stems, but the peachy-gold flower heads border the bottom and top of the dress. Perfection!
The straps are beautiful - lavender velvet, and they are adjustable with 5 buttonhole settings on the back.
This dress has a side zipper closure, and a gather at the center of the bust. So flattering!
This dress has a couple of repairs. The hem was partially repaired with a straight stitch instead of a hem stitch, so there is an area of visible stitching at the hem. The dress was also taken in on the side of the bodice at some point. This makes the bodice fit more like a size 6, though it is marked as an 8.
There are some tiny wear spots on the top of the velvet straps, shown in photos.
The black of the dress may also be a bit faded, it's difficult to tell if this is the way the fabric was, but I suspect its just been washed a lot.
Overall, a really beautiful and fun dress, fantastic for any Betsey fan, as well as anyone who loves the , pin up, or Rockabilly aesthetics.
