Vintage Kamehameha Fit and Flare Dress, 1950s Cotton Floral Dress in Purple and Green, Size Medium
Beautiful vintage dress is a classic mid century style with a fitted bodice and flared skirt. The only tag inside is the maker, which also lists the size. The dress feels like it's 100% cotton. It has a fitted bodice with smocking on the sides and back, and tons of ruching on the front. The bust has a purple shelf structure and there is a matching purple halter strap that buttons on one side (has three buttonholes to adjust length). The waist has purple scalloped piping. The skirt flares out beneath the scalloped edge and this dress currrently hits at or just below the knees (model is tall).
The flowers look like maybe purple orchids - possibly violets, but orchids fit more with the Hawaiian theme.
The hem appears to have been taken up and if let back out, will give 4. 5"-5" more length. It does not look like the "fold" from hemming would leave any visible marks (hasn't faded or worn) so letting it back out would be easy if desired.
This dress has a stain next to the bust, close to the right armpit, shown in photos. Thankfully, its placement and the pattern hide it nicely.
The other issue with this dress is that the smocking seems stretched to me. It's difficult to judge how impactful this is, because the dress is too large for me, but it feels as though it doesn't have too much stretch. This is a pull on style, with no zipper or closures at all, so you would pull it over your head to get it on.
