Vintage Hazel Atlas Cup and Saucer Sets, Little Hostess Tea Cups and Saucers in various colors.
These are teeny little cups and saucers from the early mid century period. These were initially made as part of a toy tea set for children. These pieces have been gathered by me over a period of time and are not all part of the same set, but they are all complimentary to one another.
There are three cup and saucer sets, two individual cups, and one sugar bowl. One cup and saucer (the darker green) are color fired onto a clear glass, but all of the other pieces are color fired on to the Hazel Atlas platonite glass, which is an opaque white similar to milk glass. The white teacup is edged in gold, but a lot of the gold has been rubbed off (this cup should not be put in the microwave because of the gold). The sugar bowl has a flaw in it that looks as though it was damaged, but the glass never fully broke off. It doesn't feel rough, but I am assuming its a weak spot and that this area may chip at some point in the future.
Each saucer measures 4. 5" across.
Cups are 2 1/8" tall and just under 2. 75" across the rim. Including the handle, they are almost 3. 25" wide. The cups hold 3oz if filled to the brim, but are better with 2. 5oz. They make lovely demitasse cups for espresso! Also perfect for display.
The set includes pink, blue, green, and white.
