Vintage Womens Suit Jacket, 1950s Ladies Blazer by Gerson & Weiss in Scranton. This is a lovely mid century blazer that was likely once part of a skirt suit. The collar is high up on the collar bones, with a rounded shape framing the neck. The covered buttons have rhinestone centers. The long sleeves have a cuffed finish with a notch on the outer side of the cuff. The bodice and waist are given an hourglass shape, and there is really simple but lovely design detail on the front chest of the jacket.
There are no size or content tags on this. There is a National Recovery Board label tag (union tag) that was used from the mid 30's into the 1960s. The fabric feels like wool, and the jacket is fully lined.
The only condition issue that I found on this jacket is that the bottom button is missing. There are two notches of thread on the collar, which were possibly put there on purpose as an anchor for a flower or brooch? Otherwise, something was attached and later removed, but i am not sure if those are meant to stay there.
