Vintage Black Velvet Evening Gown, 1960s Formal Dress with Sheer Lace Bell Sleeves, Size Small
Custom made black velvet evening gown from the 1960s. The original owner had a massive wardrobe of designer and custom made pieces. This is a gorgeous example. It is wearable but could stand a little TLC.
This is a full length velvet gown with an empire waist and A-line silhouette. The dress is a heavy black velvet with hemstitch details at the bust, hem, and running vertically. The wide bell sleeves are sheer lace, and were probably not original to the dress. There are velvet shoulder straps with bows at the front and back, but the left side has a rhinestone brooch instead of a bow. The straps were also likely added on after the fact.
The dress has no tags at all, and has a metal zipper closure at the left side.
The inside of the dress is fully lined with tulle from the waist down, to help give the skirt some structure.
Condition issues are mostly not impacting wear.
The straps would benefit from some reinforcement if you choose to keep them on.
The tulle lining is separating at some of the vertical seams (but is secure in the skirt, not falling out)
The hem is loose in a 7" segment.
There is a spot of wear to the velvet, next to the zipper, shown in photos. And the bottom edge of the hem is torn in several areas along the fold, shown in photos.
