Vintage Black Poodle Bookends 50s French Poodle Redware Book Ends, Mid Century Black and Gold Glazed Pottery

Vintage Black Poodle Bookends, 1950s Redware Poodle Book Ends
These black French Poodle bookends are classic Mid Century theme and style. Poodles were all the rage in the mid century period, and the kitsch was everywhere! These black glazed pieces are made on a base of either red ware or terra cotta (like flower pots). They are painted with gold and a bit of red on their little poodle faces. These are adorable for a study, library, cookbooks in the kitchen, or maybe even a single little shelf of books on a living room wall.
Each bookend measures 6"x2. 5" at the base, and is just under 5" tall at its tallest point. The poodles look as if they themselves are perched on top of books. The gold and red paint is in relatively good shape, some small scratches to the gold but it is not uncommon for pieces like this to have much of the paint rubbed or flaked off.

One of the pieces has 2 cracks in the base but they are very stable and not affecting use or aesthetics at all. You can see the cracks in photos (last 2)
