Vintage Black & Red Crochet Dress, 1950s Pin Up Style Dress in Black with Red Stitching and Sequins, Size Small
This dress is so stunning! Black crochet layers edged in red trim and decorated with sequins. This is a sleeveless dress with a fitted waist, full skirt, and sweetheart neckline. It is not lined and ideally would need a slip and/or crinoline underneath.
The bust of this dress is overly large for the waist. I am not sure if maybe it was smocked or shirred at some point? There is no evidence of stitching or elastic having been removed, but its definitely much larger than the normal bust to waist ratio would be. If I were keeping the dress, I would have it taken in at the bust to fit, but I am sure that you could also have smocking added if that is preferred. See measurement information below.
The dress has a metal side zipper, and no seams on the back of the bodice, I don't know if that comes into play for alteration purposes.
The seams are all intact and other than the sizing, I see no real defects with this. No holes or rips. This is just a really stunning piece overall!
