the size is determined by the shell, since is made of shells,
one makes the body, one is attached to the front and a small half another one is on the inside 
some of this bag are in museum collections, like the MET
measures 
7” wide by about 5 1/2” tall and is 4 1/2” deep the strap is 15” long
