The Kirsten: 70s Vintage Prairie-Style Chiffon Maxi Dress$63.00
In Jeffrey Eugenides' The Virgin Suicides, the Lisbon sisters' mother makes them five fabulous prairie-style prom dresses in confection-like colors. This pink chiffon and lace dress, obtained from an estate full of fabulous 1950s-70s clothing, would be right at home in the Sofia Coppola film. Such a gorgeous, sweet dress in the perfect pink/mauve, with sheer chiffon layer and built-in slip and ribbon at waist. The high lace neckline closes with a hook-and-eye and is complemented by a peekaboo keyhole in the back. The cuffs snap closed, and the sheer puffed bubble sleeves add to the dress's ethereal drama.
The dress is in excellent wearable condition--no rips or tears--but does have three small brown stains (pictured): one on the sleeve, and two near the right hip that aren't very visible when the item is being worn.
This sweetheart is a true XS--she's pictured on a size 4-6 dress model but would really fit a 0-2 at the most.
