Item description: CHAR by designer Charlotte Blankenship de Vasquez. Char is a leather goods and western style clothing company that is still in business today. The company was originally started as a handbag company in Santa Fe Mexico in the late 1960s early 1970s. The Char label is one of the best of the hand made leather goods labels from the late 1960s and early 1970s It has a collectors following because of the quality of their pieces. This skirt is wonderful and an excellent example of the craftsmanship of her work. She handdyed their textiles using colors and used to mostly use a combination of suede, leather and deer skin that she hand cut and whipstitched into place. This skirt is a wrap style that buckles on the side of the waist and has an inner tie. Made of brown suede with floral patchwork in white leather, grey suede, yellow leather, chocolate brown and green suede and leather. Skirt is very hard to find and in good condition.
