Beautiful silk novelty print skirt by Michaele Vollbracht. Wearable art.
Michaele Vollbracht (1947 – 2018) was an American fashion designer who worked under his own name and also as head designer for Bill Blass. Vollbracht studied at Parsons School of Design in 1965. He worked on the design teams at Geoffrey Beene, Donald Brooks and Henri Bendel as their in-house illustrator. When he moved to Bloomingdale's he designed the store's famous Face Bag. In 1979 he launched his own line, earning him the Coty Award the very next year. The company folded in 1985. Vollbracht continued his work as a successful illustrator and designer for the next 20 years. This skirt is a rare and colorful example of Vollbracht's work and has his prominent signature on the print.
