Rare 1400s Edwardian Coconut Drinking Cup In Ornamental Gilded Silver Base with Silver Plated Rim Hanap Standing Cup

My husband and I have owned this cup for years and years, ...just something that attracted us , in our many years of thrifting and collecting everything we thought interesting or amusing. I finally got around to researching it today and found this:

Cups with coconut bowls mounted in silver or silver-gilt and raised on a stem and foot, or multiple feet, were fashionable rareties in Western Europe in the late 15th century and throughout the 16th century. They were revived for a short period nearly three centuries later. It is probable that the earliest standing-cups referred to as hanaps had turned wood (mazer-like) bowls with covers. Later ones have bowls formed of silver or of a coconut or ostrich egg with silver mounts. Cups with coconut bowls mounted in silver or silver-gilt and raised on a stem and foot seem to have been popular in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. They were revived for a short period nearly three centuries later, and examples of the late 18th and early 19th centuries are sometimes found.

It measures a bit over 4 inches tall, the cup top has a diameter of 4 and an eighth of an inch wide. The base has a diameter of 4. 25" wide. The base is about 1 inch of the total height.
