Lucille Bags, Inc. I Magnin and Company
NYC, USA, '30s-'60s. The family business started in France in the 1930s as bridal beaded purse manufacture and moved to New York in the 1940s.
Specialty: a very wide assortment of luxurious exotic skin handbags in most superb styles and colors sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Crouch & Fitzgerald, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. Besides in-stock collections, they also custom-made one-off creations per order for important customers, including celebrities, dignitaries, and royalty. This is by far the most highly recognizable mid-century American brand exceptionally popular with collectors and fashionistas today.
To the best of my knowledge, this is referred to as karung snakeskin. One side of each strap has a small split - not all the way through and on the inside so it is not visible.
