Edwardian/Victorian Lovely Black And White Calico Cotton Wrapper Dress$535.00
This is a wonderful late 1890s early 1900s calico cotton wrapper dress. The print is little flower bundles in black on a gray with a white center. The dress has a little collar and buttons down the front. There is a super fun and whimsical little yoked capelet that falls just past the bust with bat wing points scalloping around the edges. The sleeves on the wrapper are also fun. They are large full sleeves with just a little more puff at the shoulder and are cuffed at the wrist. They are loose-fitting large cuffs with two shell buttons and are trimmed in matching trim. The edges are also trimmed in a sweet little embroidered ribbon. The front of the gown is loose and can be belted to cinch it in or left loose for a relaxed look. In the back at the waist, the gown is fitted with lovely V-ed pleating. This pleating helps cinch in the back but also gives lots of volume to the back of the skirt. The skirt falls to the floor and at mid-calf, there is a flounce that adds more volume to the skirt. The wrapper has a fitted interior bodice of white cotton that buttons down the front.
Condition:
The dress is in great condition overall with only a few small flaws to note. It has a few repairs overall with the most noticeable being at the two neck buttons. You would not see the repair unless you were right on top of it. There are also a few small tears that were repaired on the skirt and at the back of the neck. These flaws do not take away from just of wonderful this wrapper is. The dress has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
