Edwardian/Victorian Black Silk Sheer Mesh Chiffon Skirt Ribbon Trim$65.00
This c.1900 late Victorian or early Edwardian skirt is made of sheer black, heavy gage silk mesh and silk chiffon, with silk ribbon rosettes and trim. The skirt length is quite a bit shorter in front and longer in back, like a small train. It is also much more full in back, with large pleats gathered into the waistband. Vertical tucks in the mesh narrow the skirt slightly from the waist to below the hips. The fitted waistband is covered in silk ribbon, and the skirt fastens in back with 2 sets of hooks and eyes.
In fair condition, possibly wearable with care, this 1900s evening skirt has 2 issues to note: some tears in the back of the silk chiffon lining, making it quite fragile (it could of course be replaced with similar fabric—or a contrasting color of silk), and some scattered, small holes in the mesh fabric, which can be seen if you zoom in on the photos. This antique skirt is a quite fabulously feminine and gloriously Goth garment!
