In Chicago, the 1940’s, a luxury tie shop was opened selling hand painted silk ties. Decades later, this shop was purchased by Robert Daskal, who continued the tradition. He hired students from the Chicago Art Institute who would design and paint the silk crepe fabric. The ties were then cut from the fabric and each was signed by the artist. So, each tie was technically unique. The ties sold for $68 in the 1990’s, and the store closed shop in 2014.
This tie is 57.5 inches long and 4 inches wide. It’s in excellent condition.
