Couroc of Monterey
70s Serving Tray Nautical Sailboat Lighthouses Motif

Fabulous Couroc of Monterey serving tray, likely made in the late 70s. Made from Couroc's signature black resin, it features a nautical motif with a painted sailboat, a wood inlaid captain's wheel, and two painted lighthouses. Perfect for the mid century style home or bar - or for anyone who enjoys a retro nautical vibe! Preowned/vintage (40+ years old) with signs of use and prior display: scratches evident on the top and bottom of the tray (please see all photos). Approximate measurements: 15in L x 8.2in W. Stamped COUROC MONTEREY CA.

About the designer: Couroc of Monterey was launched in Monterey CA by Guthrie Courvoisier and his wife (Guthrie was also an art gallery owner, who was one of the first to sell Disney animation cels as art back in the day). Guthrie pulled together a team of talented artisans to make black resin trays "impervious to heat and alcohol" and typically embedded with natural shell, stone chips and wood, as well as assorted glassware from the 1940s and up until the early 90s.
