Wonderful vintage 60s blue Hawaiian dress with an overall print including the Hawaiian islands, planes, hibiscus, different fish, boats, pineapples, compasses, and other Hawaiian and nautical symbols.
The fabric is medium weight blue cotton with shades of darker blue accented with screen printed gold as pictured.
Variations of this fabric were very popular in the 1960s and were used by many Hawaiian manufacturers to create dresses, blouses, and men's shirts.
Simple shift dress pulls on over the head with no zippers or buttons.
I'm 5'4" and this comes to below my knee. It may be shorter or longer on you depending on your height.
This dress would have originally had side slits that reached above the knee. Someone has modified the dress to open the side seams creating 21-1/2" tall finished slits on both the right and left side seams. This person neatly hand stitched the seams flat so there are not frayed or raw edges.
The side seams can be sewn back together to reduce the slits, or this can be worn as with shorts or leggings underneath.
