DETAILS: A cool vintage necktie, probably 1960s, done in authentic Madras plaid. Madras woven fabrics have been around since the 1200s, with plaids emerging in the 1700s. Madras plaid is made of light weight woven cotton, hand dyed (usually with vegetable dyes) before hand weaving. Older madras plaids are prone to color instability. The plaid in this tie is on the diagonal, using mostly brown with raspberry pink, black, and light olive drab.
SIZE:
Widest point - 2. 75" (7cm)
Length - 51. 5" (131cm)
TAGS: Ara's, Wellesley. Madras, hand woven in India
CONDITION: No stains, holes or tears noted. The madras plaid is unevenly faded - colors are lightest at the tips, then go darker, and then somewhat lighter again. It is a gradual fade as opposed to a clear demarcation.
