Gorgeous hippie vibes from this mustard yellow 60s/70s geometric floral embroidered maxi skirt. Features hand-embroidered flowers, mirrors, & decorative flourishes on woven mustard yellow cotton fabric. The skirt is very full & gathered at the waist into an indigo-dyed waistband that finishes w/a drawstring tie at the left side. Vibrant colors of pink, red, green, blue, & white. Beautiful handiwork from the Banjara Tribe of the Rajasthan Desert in Central India.
The Banjara or Lamans people originally came from Afghanistan before settling in Rajasthan & other parts of India. Together with the Domba, they are sometimes called the "Gypsies of India" Lambani or Banjara embroidery is a combination of colorful threads, design patterns, mirror work, stitching patterns appliqué, or patchwork. Embroidery is done on thirteen different colors of base fabric among which dark blue & red is commonly used. A combination of vibrant color threads makes the design more striking.

CONDITION:
Good - wear consistent with age. The pink flowers have bled out in places, & there is some wear to the embroidery throughout, I tried to show some examples in the pictures. The hem in the back has some dark paint-like marks on it, hardly noticeable.
