40s/50s Glass Metal Links Burlesque Costume Headpiece$65.00
This vintage “chain mail” headdress in bright copper-colored metal with emerald green glass trim once belonged to a 1940s-50s Chicago burlesque performer (see her in her 50s promotional flyer, last photo), so I think that it might have been part of a stage/dance costume, or possibly sourced on her travels. She had a lot of costume jewelry from all over the world, as well—it’s a mystery! Either way, this striking headband of metal links is quite well made and in excellent condition. The metal links are trimmed with round “donut-shaped” green glass beads, along with tiny black glass beads, and a single, teardrop-shaped glass jewel suspended from wire at it is center front. It is too heavy and the links are too hard to be actual copper metal—I am guessing that it might be brass with a copper coating? The headpiece has no openings, and measures 21” around, to fit best for a small head size.
Size: 21” around, with 3” drop at teardrop-shaped, center jewel
Label: none
