Some History of the Wilardy Handbags: Wil Hardy joined his father's company named Handbag (Metal) Specialties. Toward the end of WWII he was able to get some damaged airplane noses that were made of lucite. During that time period leather and suede were in scarce supply so this was a perfect solution. He designed a lucite jewelry box and what is exciting he brought it to the buyers at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City and they loved it. They asked him to add a handle and the rest is history.
