Here's your opportunity to snag an exceptionally modern-sized Edwardian silk skirt...
Here's the story: I used to work for a Rental vintage clothing company and the pieces there were often hastily repaired or modified. But, sometimes I got the chance to rescue items after they went onto a special sale rack. This is an authentic 1910's silk skirt that was modified from a dress by cutting it in half and adding a modern, white cotton twill tape to the inner waist. There were also a few repairs done prior to mine. The skirt has been silk method washed, repaired and specially backed with its own fabric in areas. It has also been hemmed from its original length.
Due to the modification, this skirt has a relaxed-waist style fit. The outer layer is made of a silk crepe and has a pointed center front and back, while the shell layer consists of a cream silk, semi-opaque fabric, hemmed in the silk crepe. This silk crepe fabric is lightweight and features cornflower blue floral print, on a wheat or ecru colored ground. The left side has multiple hook + eye openings with a tiny snap closure at waist. Some sun fading, especially at right side, some at left. Many repaired & backed sections throughout, with a few small areas of holes or thinning to weave of fabric (please see pics for full details).
Measurements:
- 32" waist (relaxed)
- up to 38" hips
- 32" length from waist to hem at side seam
