10s/Edwardian Cream Wool Walking Suite Embroidery Beading$350.00
This is a wonderful Edwardian dress made of cream-colored wool. The dress is 2 pieces: a bodice and a skirt. The bodice has a crew neck and stunning milk glass-styled beading on the bodice along with silk floss embroidery and hand-set rhinestones all wrapping around to the back. Just below the bust on the center front is a chiffon panel that actually makes up the bottom half of the bodice. The bodice has long puffed sleeves fitted with cuffs at the wrist that have chiffon ruffles. The bodice fastens up the back with hooks and eyes. The chiffon has a lining of a bobbinet for support. The bodice also has a cream silk waistband with loops about every two inches that would have attached to the skirt.
The skirt has a Petersham waistband that fastens with 3 hooks and eyes and is tucked into the skirt. The top edge of the Petersham has a wonderful chiffon ruffle that is just a fun little detail. The skirt is a simple A-line falling to the floor with large box pleats giving the skirt its shape and volume.
Condition:
The dress is in good condition overall with a few flaws to note. The bodice has a few small holes on the left arm. They are no bigger than pinheads. There is also some faint staining on the front of that arm. There is one a bit larger on the collar edge, but with the embellishments, it is not too noticeable. These could be darned if desired. There is also a tear in the chiffon under the arm on the left side. The set has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
Please Note Undershirt is Sold Separately
