What Are We To Do by John Strachey 1938

What are we to do? By John Strachey

A history of the British and American Labor Movements. In 1938, Great Britain finds itself in an odd position, the Great Depression is waning, the Spanish Civil War is on-going with socialists and communists fighting the right wing Franco followers in a precursor of WWII, Hitler is preparing to unleash his horrors upon Europe. Strachey takes a long and thoughtful look at position that the British Labour/Socialist movement is in and what it should do to grow. In retrospect it seems that through all the tumult of WWII, even with the great respect that the people of Great Britain for the leadership of Winston Churchill, in the first election after the war, the Labour Party won.
