Rare, highly prized, and collectible, this magnificent square scarf is one of a set of 4 large YSL scarves representing the 4 seasons of the year: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. This is the Spring L'Ete scarf. 100% silk, edge rolled by hand, and signed YSL. Made in Japan.
This scarf design was part of a series of four Yves St Laurent lithographs describing the four seasons commissioned by Diana Vreeland and designed by YSL in the 1970s. The Four Seasons was used in his landmark solo retrospective exhibition "Yves Saint Laurent: 25 Years of Design" held at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1983. It was a spectacular event. St. Laurent was the first living fashion designer to be honored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC with a solo exhibition. Also note his signature that is incorporated into each of the prints - not all prints have included his signature! Rarely seen and very collectible!
Please note--there are stain marks along the face and the blue outside the mouth.
