Vivid 40s Red Velvet Zip Front Dressing Gown Hostess Dress Robe$100.00
This is a wonderful 40s lush red velvet dressing gown with zip font. The gown has a pointed collar and wide ¾ length sleeves. It is simple in the front and cut straight with pleats in the back at the waist seam that adds volume to the skirt. It has a metal zipper down the front that runs to about the knees.
Condition:
The dressing gown is in okay condition with some wear overall. The most notable issues stem from it being a homemade item. When making it they did not have enough fabric and used piecing to complete it. The most noticeable is in the underarm of the left arm, it does not sit quite right but is not too noticeable. The other spot of piecing that is noticeable but does not affect the wear is an added long rectangle all the way up the front on the left side of the zipper. It is cut on a different grain so it can wrinkle differently than the rest. The other thing to note is that there are scattered pinholes and some mends all over. They are overall hard to see when worn as the pile of the velvet does hide them some. The last flaw to note is that at the hem there are two spots where the velvet pile was worn away. They look like holes from the underside but are not. These spots just don't have any fluffy velvet anymore and DO blend in well from the front. There was once a belt but it has been lost to time. The dressing gown is still wearable and photographs very well. It has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
