This silk fabric of this Missoni shirt is just absolutely divine: it's a 100% silk chiffon with a crinkled texture. It's seriously so light, airy, diaphanous— I never want to take it off, and it's such a versatile layering piece. Made in Italy by Missoni circa 1980s, it has an oversized sailor collar with a delicately pleated flounce, calling subtle attention to the décolletage. The breezy silk makes it a great layering piece: it could be worn tied in the front, open like a jacket, tucked into something high-waisted, untucked, layered over a thin knit... the possibilities are literally endless! I can't emphasize enough how amazing the craftsmanship is on this classic piece: even the little pintucks at the shoulder are done with such skill that they honestly stopped me in my tracks. There are two layers of fabric so that it's not overly sheer, and the fabric does have stretch to it.
