This is a gorgeous blue carnival glass bowl called 221 Oval Center Bowl from the Indiana Glass Co. The iridescent colors are primarily indigo blue, purple and green but reflect gold or bronze as well. The hues are beautiful—these pictures don’t do it justice.

It is about 12” long, 8 ½” wide at its widest point, and 4 ½” high from the feet to the top. The inside of the bowl is about 3” deep if you don’t count the feet.

It has some marks and discoloration, especially on the base of the bowl, that would have occurred during the production process. There are some rough spots along the rim that could be miniscule chips or again, could have occurred during production—I can’t tell for sure. There are some light scratches from use. Other than that, there are no major chips or cracks.

Indiana Glass Co. of Dunkirk, Indiana, was well known for its contemporary carnival glass production in the 1970s, when carnival glass experienced a major revival. This Harvest pattern was possibly the company’s best-known pattern.
