Wear something with the history, and timelessness, of pure silk devoré velvet & glass beading...
This stunning top (once a dress) comes in the most scintillating and attractive hues of blue -peacock or blue with just a tinge of green. The fabric is unlike anything ever made today, a pure woven silk with large scale floral pattern on the raised pile, velvet sections. (If you've never touched silk velvet, you are missing out on a special treat, often softer in feel than some fine furs!) This former dress, turned blouse, features a wide almost bateau neckline, straight bodice cut and short sleeves. The neckline (front & back) and sleeves feature a 'chainlike' beading pattern, whereas the hem is an altogether different pattern with amoebas, tentacles and little 'wagon wheels'. I matched and replaced all of the missing beading, as well as secured all of the original beading (50+ hours of bead work!). One side of this top does have some pale yellowish staining and I added some extra 'wagon wheels' over these spots. The shirt may be worn front-to-back or back-to-front and does have some tiny repairs throughout (I darned with a close-matching silk thread but re-beaded with a polyester thread FYI). Utterly gorgeous and intoxicating, I won't soon have another piece like this, and so wearable!
