These earrings were made in the 1980s by hereditary jeweler Fernando Ronci, whose Providence-based brand Fernando Originals produced handcrafted costume jewelry of exquisite quality. Upon first glance you wouldn't realize it, but on further inspection, the black material is actually wood which has been treated with a sort of lacquer. In the center is a pearl in a gold-plated bezel. The flat, oversized shape definitely makes a statement, but they are very lightweight and so comfortable. These measure about 1.5" and are finished with a clip-on back.
