Count Ferdinando Sarmi
Vintage 60s Sarmi Gown with Ribbon Soutache Details Grosgrain Ribbon and Silk Pongee Skirt$640.00
SPECTACULAR piece of fashion history. 1960's SARMI gown designed by Count Ferdinando Sarmi an Italian American designer. You can find several of his pieces in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute collection.
This gown is a great example of his work. The bodice is constructed with silk, black mesh overlay with a white and black ribbon Soutache detailing. It is very intricate, unique and gorgeous. The black and white capped sleeve bodice is a gorgeous contrast to the bright orange grosgrain ribbon belt at the waist. The skirt of this gown is constructed with Cream silk pongee with a bagged hem and large hem allowance, assumed to add weight and keep it's shape. There are several snaps down the back of the skirt so the skirt can close over and conceal the zipper. There is so much attention to detail in this garment. SARMI New York label inside.
