This early 1950s dress is so beautiful the pics simply do not do it justice! The style lines are very obviously modeled after the late 40s Dior “Cherie” style New Look dress and it is exquisite!
The dress is made of a sheer fabric without stretch (likely chiffon or a synthetic variation) and was made to be worn with a slip. (We have it pictured with a white camomile and petticoat) It is a deep navy blue with lighter sheer blue square print. It buttons up the front and features these remarkable glass buttons that look so stunning and catch the light beautifully!
It is wonderfully made and is in fantastic, near pristine condition. Like new! There are no rips, holes, stains etc. No flaws noted.
There are unfortunately no tags but it measures out to a modern size 8.
Flat Lay measurements are:
Bust: 37”
Waist: 27”
Hip: FULL
Shoulder seam to seam: 15”
Length: 45”
beautiful seaming throughout and an artistic raised quilt stitching on the skirt of the dress, all done by hand. It is shown here with a light petticoat (not included). Button front.
This dress has light shoulder padding all inline with Diors 1940’s “New Look” dress styles.
This is a McKettricks label dress.
