50s/60s Print Dress Turquoise And Green$45.00
This late 1950s to early 1960s vintage dress is a wonderful blend of ladylike (the elegant silhouette) and Pow! (the gorgeous print). The bodice is styled with an upper yoke, which wraps in front to form a sweetheart neckline, anchored by a flat self-fabric bow. Vertical and horizontal darts shape the bust. The straight skirt has two soft pleats at the waist in front, as well as curving "western" style pockets from the waist to each sideseam. There is a 6" kick pleat in the center of the back hem.
SIZE: No size label
Bust - 39"
Shoulders - 15. 5"
Waist - 30"
Hips - 42"
Bodice length from shoulder seam - 15. 5"
Skirt length: 25"
Sweep: 45"
FABRIC/COLORS: Love this print! Large stylized flowers done in a very vivid shade of turquoise along with dark green and olive green, partially overlaid with olive green crosshatching and underlaid with goldenrod and cream. It's a crepe weave that feels silky to the touch. Fiber burn test suggests rayon/synthetic blend.
TAGS: No tags at all. I think this may have been custom sewn, at a good skill level.
CLOSURES: white metal sideseam zipper
CONDITION: On my second inspection, I found three small holes in the skirt fabric - two near the left front hem - see closeup - and a similarly sized one farther up on the skirt front, still more to the left. Due to the busy nature of the print, these are not obvious, and there doesn't seem to be any active fraying edge. No other issues noted
