Vintage 40s Dress with Beading and Prong Rhinestones - missing one large rhinestone, see closeup. Dress was shortened as some point in the past, there's no material to let down. In photos on mannequin some of the small rhinestones were facing backward - didn't realize this until later so see closeup of beading where these are faced outward correctly. Dress is PINK, may look a bit more red as its a cloudy day here and the color shows up a little more intense/warm in photos. Dark pink.
I am not certain of the material but thin, fluid, smooth, I don't think its nylon or silk. Side metal zipper, loop buttons at back neck.
19" underarm to underarm, this has no stretch so I'd say 36" bust, 29" waist, 40" hips. 39" total length, 17" bodice length, 15" shoulders, 24" sleeve - Model is 5'8" XS 32/25/34 so this was a bit loose.
This dress is in good condition for its age. Flaws: one large rhinestone is gone, a few missing tiny beads and part of the row of small rhinestones (left side photo). Thin discolorations on bodice. Faint tiny spot above back hem. I do not find these issues distracting enough to risk cleaning (risk of bead/rhinestone loss). And as noted earlier, dress was cut/hemmed to current length.
