If only we could all cover our flaws with rhinestones, buttons, beading and notions...

This fantastic hat is made of a mocha brown color wool felt, molded into a rounded semi-toque or semi-beret inspired style. Either side of hat has dramatically long silk knit sashes, for wrapping in whatever fashion, around one's neck. I've added what I call 'creative repairs' to this hat; I've covered most of the discolorations on the main body of the hat with beads, rhinestones, buttons and other notions. The silk sashes had many 'pulls' and small areas eaten by moths, so I darned (repaired) the larger holes and issues, then added bugle beads, Swarovski rhinestones and vintage clear buttons, to either cover the repairs or the holes themselves. There are still a few pin sized holes remaining throughout the silk sashes, especially near the tip of one side (please see last pic), but they do not risk running, with care. Label reads 'Cathay, An original of California' and the main body of hat was created in Italy.
