50's Adorable Lion Tea Apron$25.00
Show your love for lions with this adorable (?) Lion-at-the-Zoo theme cotton apron...
Oh the 1950's, when the 'atomic housewives' were meant to greet their husbands or guests apron-clad and ready for their 'wifely duties'. I'm glad we've shed those un-feminist ideals, but sad we've forgotten how to do so many wonderful things around the house (I mean Women, Men, and anyone in-between!). I love hosting dinner or cocktail parties, and my aprons are always shown off during these times! It really is nice to get a little dressed up and have a fun extra layer to take off or put on.
This lightweight cotton apron was most likely sewn at home (one of a kind!) with fabric and supplies purchased at a local sundries store. The print features a pacing, golden lion -still grinning- in various positions inside his cage. The waist and edges are finished with a sunny yellow cotton seam binding. The long sash ties have mitered ends, but of course, the best detail is the matching yellow soft terry cloth at the opening of the patch pocket. So sweet. Overall condition is excellent with no visible stains, and only mild fraying to seam binding at one section of waist (see photographs).
Measurements:
- 17.5" across top section of apron panel
- 19" height of apron panel
- 22.5" length of each mitered sash tie
