How could you not love the little touches of whimsy on this vintage 1950's dress?

Here is your classic style Cheongsam or Qi Pao style dress, made in a light to medium weight woven mock-silk (acetate?) fabric in black. It is fitted with darting around the waist, and features a mandarin style collar and short or cap sleeves. The fun parts of this dress, obviously, are the black on white polka dot print, cotton fabric details; two coil & knot frog sets (mock closures) at upper left chest, six more coils along with piped tie, and wide, peek-a-boo kick pleat at left side seam. The back has a metal zipper and hook + eye closure. When I found this dress it had been altered, taken in slightly. But, I have spent much time taking out the fine stitching and ironing out the 'ghost seams'. I've also taken the time to tack the mock chest closure in place, for a more finished look. Overall this dress is in incredible condition (got rehabbed hard), with the only flaw being some pale yellow stains at the inside kick pleat (please see photographs). No labels or maker's marks present, most likely this dress was homemade or boutique-made because the seam allowances are unfinished and dress is unlined.
