Victorian Off White Silk Slip$115.00
Exquisite late Victorian to Edwardian ankle length silk and lace slip.
Medium weight off white (cream) silk nine panel ankle length slip with 3 tiers of scalloped lace at the bottom as pictured.
The lace section of the skirt is lined with two layers of silk to add more fullness - the remainder of the slip is unlined.
Features a 5/8" self fabric waistband and open 7-1/2" long finished placket which fastens at the right side with hook and eyes.
Although the waist is very small, the waistband could be let out an additional 2" by moving the hook and eyes. If you a larger waist size, there are pleats at each side of the placket which could be let out to add an additional 6" total to the waist size.
Unlined. No pockets.
No labels of any kind. This is most likely handmade by a professional seamstress of the late Victorian into Edwardian era.
This piece was sourced from a local museum.
CONDITION: Very Good- There is no discoloration, fading, snags, picks, stains, rips, tear, holes, stains, or odors.
The only thing is some minor age related spots around the inside middle layer of the skirt. These spots (shown in photographs 7 and 8) do not show through to the outside, but have been taken into consideration when pricing this piece.
SIZING: There is no size tag. Based on the measurements below, I'd say this would best fit a modern size Extra Extra Small (XXS) as it currently is, although there is fabric to let out as described above.
Skirt Bottom Sweep: 176" Around
Length: 40-3/4" - Waist to Hem (includes 17-1/4" lace ruffle)
A gorgeous piece perfect worn as a skirt or slip.
