Wonderful antique edition of the "Blue Fairy Book" by Andrew Lang. With so many beloved fairy tales, (Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, and so many more) From my research I believe this was published in the late 1880s and this little volume was given as a gift to Ethel from her sister Winifred in 1903. It was part of a set of twelve books, all the various color fairies. Measures about 6" by 4.25". 390 pages. Red cloth cover with lovely floral gilt. Has several illustrations in black and white.
Good to fair vintage condition. The spine has come away from the block of pages. All the pages seem to be there and are in pretty god shape mostly though there are some loose ones and some with tears and so forth. It does have that sweet birthday message from Winifred to Ethel in the front. The cover itself shows very little wear considering its age. Its such a pretty little book!!! Priced accordingly, I have seen the full set at $12,000.
