This is a gorgeous two-tone green, Victorian, turn-of-the-century bodice. The bodice is a faux jacket style with the jacket part of the bodice made of rich forest green textured/brocaded wool. The blouse part is made of a bright kelly green abstract printed silk. The bodice has a high stiffened collar in the printed silk that is trimmed in black jet beads. The blouse is gathered above the bust and is slightly full as it goes to the waistline. The bodice also has an attached belt that is in the silk and is pleated fastening with hooks and eyes in the front. The jacket has larger lapels that are trimmed in the same beaded trim and are stiffened to help keep its shape. The bodice also has long sleeves that have slight volume at the shoulders. They have scalloped cuffs that are trimmed again in the jet-beaded trim and are lined in green silk that peeks out. The bodice is fully lined in brown polished cotton and is fully boned on every seam and dart for support, and to achieve the popular silhouette of the time. The lining fastens up down the center front with hooks and eyes and the green silk lines up with the edge of the wool and fastens with hooks and loops down that edge.
Condition:
The bodice is in great condition overall with one flaw to note. On the lining, there is a tear in the brown cotton lining right next to the hooks and eyes. It is smaller and could be poached early if you wanted to wear it. It is such a beautiful piece and is ready for a new home.
