Antique Victorian Silk Velvet Day Bodice Metal Buttons

Late Victorian day bodice in silk velvet, long sleeves with gathered details at the elbow, button front with etched metal embellished buttons, high neckline, four panel back construction. The front features waist panels with inner hook and eye closures. I do not have any of the history behind this garment unfortunately and I almost wonder if it used to be black and the color has faded to brown over time. I also believe that part was constructed by sewing machine (see close up with panel of hooks). I would imagine this was originally made for a very slender woman or a teen based on measurements.

This garment has numerous flaws to include: threadbare areas of the velvet throughout, it is missing three buttons, there are loose seams, the boning is missing from the channels, there is a large hole on the lining. Based on the blue thread it looks like the previous owner attempted to stitch the boning channels back on. Would not recommend wearing, would be best as a study piece.
