Victorian Bonnet Hat$45.00
Stunning little black bonnet circa the mid 1800s. Possibly mourning wear but I'm unsure. Stiff mesh base with some woven straw and wire round the edges, topped with silk over little rolls of what feel like maybe horse hair or perhaps ore straw, something a little crinkly. It measures approx 6" across the top. Has two lengths of silk to tie under the chin, each is 30" long. No label. Please see condition.
Good to Fair vintage condition. The silk ties are in excellent condition, just some mild color fade. The hat itself has some flaws. The mesh base is fine, but the wirer has come loose in some areas. The silk embellishments on the top have shattered mostly along the edges so some of the straw etc.. shows through. The silk bow on top though seems in somewhat better shape though its also not perfect. I do think its wearable as those ties seem strong, but obviously with respect and you'd have to not mind the distressed look. Its priced accordingly and as a study piece or for display. Would be lovely for a collection! As Is.
