A stunning Victorian bonnet. Professional construction with no design or manufacture labels present. This incredible hat is styled as a bonnet tilt hat with a wide brim saucer shape. The foundation has a sturdy wire frame with a vivid blue soutache and matching dyed horse hair covering. The hat features a cranberry velvet detail covered in matching blue silk "feathered" trim. The hat has a 1 1/2 inch width around the outer edge that is trimmed in this matching cranberry red rayon velvet. The underside of the hat is covered in the blue soutache and horse hair, matching the top. The interior of the hat is fully lined in a black mercerized cotton. The intended fit is at the front or back / top crown of the head with tilt placement to your discretion. Hat pins would have been used and are suggested, to help secure the hat in place.

Condition is listed as good minus with notations. The hat is structurally sound and 100% wearable. There is some misshaping to the wire frame and overall general notes of age and handling to the fabrics. A few minor areas of breakage to the horsehair and some mussing. This notation is generally unseen without close inspections. Overall presentation is very good. The hat would benefit from some minor attention and reshaping. A nice addition to any early hat collections and priced according to the notations listed above.
