Victorian Antique Black Enamel Mourning Cross Pendant$215.00
This pendant is so magical: dating to around the 1860s, it features champlevé enamel work (note the intricate gold running through the border) with a raised bezel of solid enamel, centering upon a cross. The black enamel denotes that this is mourning jewelry, meant to commemorate the loss of a loved one. While she famously grieved her husband Prince Albert's death for 40 years, Queen Victoria often wore a locket with his hair around her neck. It measures 1" total drop; the bale is on the small side but will still accomodate a fine chain, or a jump ring could be added by any jeweler; Note that the chain is not included but please contact me if you would like one: shop@verybreezy.com
