Wonderful antique 5 book set of The People"s Natural History published by "The University Society" in 1903. These books cover all living creatures from insects to humans with over 2000 illustrations, mostly photographs from the period. The first 3 which cover animals, birds, reptiles and insects include multiple color plates, the last two which cover humans, only include one color plate (both shown) as a front piece.

The photography through out is stunning and includes images by G. W. Wilson, a pioneering Scottish photographer who received a contract to photograph the Royal Family, working for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Beautifully designed cloth covers as well, this is a very hard to find set, a definite time capsule of the early Edwardian era's take on science, history and mankind.

They are in good antique condition , some shelf wear, foxing and other signs of wear and age. Including wear to the spines, most apparent in the 5th volume which has separated (see photo). These are large volumes, each weighing in at 4 to 5 pounds (notice how they are bending my wood base in the photo with the globe), will be shipped insured media mail.
