Hard to find 1956 first edition of The Grand Mademoiselle by Frances Steegmuller. An entertaining biography of Anne-Marie-Louise d'Orleans, Duchesse de Montpensier (1627-1693). The Duchesse was a female cousin of Louis XIV, as well as the richest woman in all France but in fact she was the most unfortunate of all French women.

This is an x-library copy and shows plenty of use and wear. There is foxing on the cloth cover under the jacket and some of the end pages.
