I understand they are designed to be put in the oven and cooked in at a max temp 350 degrees, but because of the nature of this set, it might be best used for serving hot items instead of baking in the oven for any extended period of time. I would feel comfortable heating in an oven for a short time but it might be a little risky baking for long periods of time at a high temperature. Just to be super cautious, you could preheat the crocks and then ladle hot soup or beans, etc into the pots and serve.

One lid has 2 chipped areas on the underside, no other cracks or chips or even signs of ever being cooked in.
